In 1952 Paris, Nadia, a passionate 15-year-old communist ('Red Diaper baby') with Polish parents, is beaten by cops during an anti-American demonstration. She's rescued by Stéphane, a 'Match' photographer, whom she later falls in love with. Their relationship causes some Red youth to want to expel her. When Nadia accompanies Stéphane on a seaside photo shoot, her father reports him to the police. Facing charges, Stéphane considers covering the war in Indochina. Meanwhile, Nadia's mother reconnects with her prewar lover who was recently released from Siberia and challenges French Reds about Stalin's anti-Semitism.
'Rouge Baiser' (1985), directed by Véra Belmont, is a French-German drama film set against the backdrop of post-WWII political turmoil in Paris. The story follows Nadia, a teenage communist activist, whose beliefs are challenged when she falls in love with Stéphane, a photographer. This forbidden relationship and her family's history intersect with broader political events, making 'Rouge Baiser' a compelling exploration of ideology, emotion, and personal growth.
