Vanessa Redgrave CBE, born January 30, 1937, is an English actress and political activist. She rose to prominence playing Rosalind in 'As You Like It' with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1961. With over 35 productions in London's West End and on Broadway, she has won numerous awards including Olivier (1984) and Tony Awards (2003). A six-time Oscar nominee, she won for her role in 'Julia' (1977), and was nominated for roles in films like 'Isadora' (1968). Her extensive filmography includes notable works such as 'A Man for All Seasons', 'Blowup', and 'Atonement'. Redgrave has been acclaimed by Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams as the greatest living actress.
