Tessa Lynne Thompson, born October 3, 1983, is an American actress and singer of Afro-Panamanian, white, and Mexican ancestry. She began her acting career with the Los Angeles Women's Shakespeare Company during her studies at Santa Monica College. Thompson gained recognition for her roles in 'Mississippi Damned' (2009) and 'For Colored Girls' (2010). Raised between LA and Brooklyn, she has a younger half-sister Zsela who is also a singer.
