Sandy Ratcliff, born Sandra Anne Ratcliff on October 2, 1950 in London, England, began her career as a model, earning the title 'The Face of the 70s' from photographer Lord Snowden. She transitioned to acting, notably playing leading roles in Ken Loach's 'Family Life' (1971) and 'Radio On' (1979). Ratcliff is best known for her portrayal of Sue Osman, the cafe owner, in the BBC soap EastEnders from 1985 to 1989. After leaving EastEnders, she struggled with health issues and a heroin addiction. She was later convicted for providing a false alibi for her boyfriend Michael Shorey, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder. Ratcliff retrained as a counsellor but retired by 2010. Her body was found in sheltered accommodation on April 7, 2019, at the age of 70.
