Sally Margaret Field, born November 6, 1946, is an American actress with a career spanning over five decades. She began her career on television, starring in shows like 'Gidget', 'The Flying Nun', and 'The Girl with Something Extra'. In 1976, she gained critical acclaim for her role in the TV film 'Sybil', earning her first Emmy Award. Her film debut was as an extra in 'Moon Pilot' (1962), but she rose to prominence during the 1970s with roles in films such as 'Stay Hungry' (1976). She won two Academy Awards for Best Actress, for 'Norma Rae' (1979) and 'Places in the Heart' (1984). Throughout her career, she has appeared in numerous films like 'Smokey and the Bandit', 'Hooper', 'Steel Magnolias', 'Mrs. Doubtfire', and 'Forrest Gump'. She also had notable roles on television, including a recurring role on 'ER' and starring as Nora Walker in 'Brothers & Sisters'. In 2017, she returned to the stage after an absence of 15 years with the revival of Tennessee Williams's 'The Glass Menagerie'.
