Full Biography
Marisa Mell (born Marlies Theres Moitzi on February 24, 1939 in Graz, Austria) was an Austrian actress who gained cult status in Italian B-movies of the 1960s. In 1963, she survived a severe car accident that caused significant facial injuries, including damage to her lip and near-loss of an eye. After extensive plastic surgery over two years, she regained full functionality with only a slight curl of her upper lip remaining as a reminder. Mell turned down a seven-year Hollywood contract due to its restrictive terms. In 1967, she starred in the musical 'Mata Hari' alongside Pernell Roberts, but the production was closed after a disastrous preview performance in Washington D.C. Her most iconic role is Eva Kant in 'Danger: Diabolik' (1968), which earned her renewed popularity in the late 1990s through its feature on the TV show MST3K. Mell passed away from throat cancer in Vienna at age 53 in 1992.
