Marisa Christine Coughlan was born on March 17, 1974, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from Breck School and later enrolled in a BFA program at the University of Southern California upon moving to Los Angeles. Coughlan gained mainstream attention with her role in Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999) alongside Katie Holmes. She has since appeared in films such as Pumpkin, New Suit, Super Troopers, and Freddy Got Fingered. On television, she had recurring roles on Boston Legal and Bones, and starred in the Lifetime series Side Order of Life. Coughlan began writing during a break from acting and produced her first pilot, Lost & Found for ABC in 2011.
