Joan Chen, born April 26, 1961, is a Chinese-American actress who gained fame in China for her role in 'Little Flower' (1979). She achieved international recognition for her performance in Bernardo Bertolucci's 'The Last Emperor' (1987), which won the Academy Award for Best Film. Chen is also known for her roles in 'Twin Peaks', 'Red Rose White Rose', 'Saving Face', and 'The Home Song Stories'. Notably, she made her directorial debut with the feature film 'Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl'.
