Issa Rae, born Jo-Issa Rae Diop on January 12, 1985, is an American actress and producer who gained recognition for her role as 'Issa' in the HBO series 'Insecure' (2016-2021), which she also co-created and wrote. The show, set in Los Angeles, explores the experiences of two African-American women navigating career and relationship challenges in their late twenties. Rae's father is Senegalese.
