Brigitte Rouan, born on September 28, 1946, is a French director, screenwriter, and actress who started her career as an actress at age 21. Born into a naval family in Toulon, she was orphaned at six and spent her childhood in Algeria and Senegal before moving to Paris for convent school at twelve. Rouan's acting career led to roles in films directed by Alain Resnais, Jacques Rivette, and Bertrand Tavernier. She transitioned to directing with 'Grosse', winning a César Award in 1986, followed by features like 'Overseas' (1990) and 'Post Coitum, Animal Triste' (1997), which received critical acclaim and festival recognition.
