Anna Maxwell Martin (born Anna Charlotte Martin on May 10, 1977) is an English actress known for her roles in various television series and stage productions. She won two British Academy Television Awards for her portrayals of Esther Summerson in 'Bleak House' (2005) and N in 'Poppy Shakespeare' (2008). Notable TV roles include DCS Patricia Carmichael in 'Line of Duty' (2019-2021), Kelly Major in 'Code 404' (2020-2022), and the BBC comedy 'Motherland' from 2016 to 2022, for which she was nominated for a BAFTA Award. Martin's theater work includes playing Lyra Belacqua in the National Theatre production of 'His Dark Materials' (2003-2004).
