Melanie Richards Griffith, born on August 9, 1957 in New York City to actress Tippi Hedren and advertising executive Peter Griffith, began her acting career at age 17 with Night Moves. She gained prominence for her role in Body Double (1984), earning a National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her breakthrough came with Working Girl (1988), which earned her an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe win.
