She rose to prominence playing Tina Turner in the biopic 'What's Love Got to Do with It' (1993), earning a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination. Bassett has starred in notable films like 'Boyz n the Hood' (1991), 'Malcolm X' (1992), and 'Waiting to Exhale' (1995). In television, she portrayed Katherine Jackson in 'The Jacksons: An American Dream' (1992) and Rosa Parks in 'The Rosa Parks Story' (2002). In the future, a battered salvage ship sends out a distress signal, prompting the crew of the rescue hospital ship Nova-17 to respond.
