Julianne Moore, born Julie Anne Smith on December 3, 1960, is an American actress known for her emotionally troubled women roles in independent films and leading lady parts in blockbusters. After studying theater at Boston University, she began her career with TV roles, notably earning a Daytime Emmy Award for 'As the World Turns' (1985-1988). Moore gained critical acclaim for performances in films like 'Short Cuts' (1993), 'Safe' (1995), and received Academy Award nominations for 'Boogie Nights' (1997), 'The End of the Affair' (1999), among others. She won an Oscar for 'Still Alice' (2014). Moore is married to director Bart Freundlich, with whom she has two children.

In post-WWII London (1946), novelist Maurice Bendrix reunites with his old friend Henry Miles after a two-year hiatus. Their meeting rekindles Maurice's obsession with Sarah Miles, Henry's wife and Maurice's former lover who abruptly ended their affair without explanation. Driven by jealousy, Maurice hires a detective agency to investigate Sarah's suspected infidelity.
