Marion Cotillard, born September 30, 1975 in Paris, France, is an award-winning actress known for her roles in independent films and blockbusters. She began her career in French cinema, earning a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actress for 'Taxi' (1998). Cotillard made her English-language debut in the TV series 'Highlander' (1993) and gained international recognition for her portrayal of Édith Piaf in 'La Vie en Rose' (2007), winning an Academy Award for Best Actress. Gabrielle, a young woman from a small village in the South of France, is married to José, a Spanish farm worker chosen by her parents.
