After moving to a new town due to personal trauma, Wilson Walmsley takes up a substitute teaching job at a local high school. He finds the school direction and teachers lacking authority, with students running rampant and displaying no discipline or respect. He forms bonds with arts teacher Louise and student Joey, who is abused by his girlfriend's brother Davey. When Walmsley intervenes to save Louise from Davey's sexual assault, they are sued by Davey's family lawyer, and Louise is later beaten by Davey's girlfriend. Distraught, Walmsley lures Joey and six troublesome students from his class, drugs them, and brings them to his secluded property in Alpine, Texas. The seven students wake up naked and caged with electric fences. Walmsley announces that he will reform them through a brutal regime, shooting Joey as a warning. He then begins his harsh teaching methods.
