Actress Ana Claudia Talancón was born on May 1, 1980, in Cancun, Mexico. She began her acting career in Quintana Roo and studied under Cuban professor Albio Paz before moving to Mexico City for further training with Héctor Mendoza and Raúl Quintanilla. Talancón gained recognition for her role in the soap opera 'Romántica obsesión', winning the Sol de Oro award for Best New Actress in 1999. Her film debut was in 'El Cometa' by Marisa Sistach, earning her an Ariel Award nomination for Best New Actress. She rose to international fame with her role as Amelia in the movie 'El Crimen del Padre Amaro', alongside Gael García Bernal.

Recently ordained Father Amaro, age 24, arrives at the small parish church of Los Reyes to assist Father Benito. He meets Amelia, a 16-year-old girl with whom he becomes attracted despite her religious devotion. Meanwhile, it's revealed that Father Benito has been having an affair with Amelia's mother, Sanjuanera, and is receiving financial help from a drug lord for a new health clinic. Amaro discovers these secrets and begins a sexual relationship with Amelia. As tensions rise in the community, Amaro struggles between his divine duties and carnal desires.
