Bárbara Raquel Paz, born in Campo Bom near Porto Alegre and raised by her mother after her father's death at six, began working at nine to help her family financially. She moved to São Paulo at 19, modeling briefly before a serious car accident left her with facial scars, ending that career. After recovering, she studied theater at the Antunes Filho Theater Research Center and joined the group Parlapatões.
