Azizi Johari, born August 24, 1948 in New York City as Azizi Johari-Johnson, was a model and actress who grew up moving around due to her father's military service before settling in Seattle, Washington. She attended high school and college there, taking interest in meditation and poetry. Known professionally by the Swahili pseudonym 'Azizi' meaning 'precious jewel', she gained recognition as Playmate of the Month for Playboy magazine in June 1975, being one of the few African-American women to hold that title. Johari went on to act in films like 'The Killing of a Chinese Bookie', 'Dreamer', 'Seed of Innocence', and notably, 'Body and Soul' (1981). She also made a guest appearance on 'The Six Million Dollar Man' TV series.
