Jaoui gained recognition as an actress and screenwriter with films like 'Smoking/No Smoking' (1993), 'Un air de famille' (1996), and 'On connaît la chanson' (1997), winning three César Awards for Best Writing. She made her directorial debut with 'Le Goût des autres' (2000), followed by 'Comme une image' (2004) and 'Under the Rainbow' (2012). She has also released a Latin music album, 'Canta' (2006).
