Gillian Jacobs, born October 19, 1982, is an American actress of French, German, Irish, and Scottish descent. Raised in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, she was born to Martina Magenau Jacobs, a Carnegie Mellon University director of alumni relations, and William F. Jacobs Jr., an investment banker. Her grandfather served as President and CEO of the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery until its closure in 1978. Jacobs began acting at age eight and performed with the Pittsburgh Public Theater. She graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 2000, then moved to New York City, where she attended Juilliard School's Drama Division (Group 33) and earned a bachelor's degree in 2004.
