Theresa Russell, born Theresa Lynn Paup on March 20, 1957, is an American actress who began her career in the late 1970s. She gained critical acclaim for her role in Nicolas Roeg's 'Bad Timing' (1980). After marrying Roeg in 1982, she appeared in several of his films including 'Eureka', 'Insignificance', and 'Cold Heaven'. In the late 1990s, Russell starred in the thriller 'Wild Things' (1998) and later acted in notable roles such as 'The Believer' (2001), HBO miniseries 'Empire Falls' (2005), and had a minor role in 'Spider-Man 3' (2007).

Bad Timing follows Alex Linden (Art Garfunkel), an American psychiatrist living in Vienna. He meets Milena Flaherty (Teresa Russell), a young American woman already married but leading a carefree lifestyle, through a mutual friend. Despite their age difference, they embark on a passionate affair that becomes increasingly intense and destructive. Their relationship is marked by intense sex, heavy drinking, and Milena's numerous affairs, much to Alex's jealousy. One night, Milena overdoses on pills, and Alex is taken into custody by Inspector Netusil (Harvey Keitel), who suspects foul play. As Milena fights for her life in the hospital, the inspector interrogates Alex, piecing together their tumultuous relationship through flashbacks.
