Born into the prominent Redgrave acting family, she is best recognized for playing Mary Shelley ('Patty Hearst') in feature films. Richardson earned critical acclaim and multiple awards, including a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for 'Cabaret'. Notable works include 'The Handmaid's Tale' (1990), 'Nell' (1994), 'The Parent Trap' (1998), and 'Maid in Manhattan' (2002). She was married to actor Liam Neeson from 1994 until her death. Richardson tragically passed away in 2009 after a head injury sustained during a skiing accident.
