In 1427, Lady Maria Van Arnstein receives news of her husband Michel's death in battle against the Hussites, but she suspects foul play as there's no blood on his sword. She believes Michel might still be alive and seeks King König Sigismund's permission to search for him, which he grants with a ten-day limit. Meanwhile, it's revealed that Michel's cousin Hettenhein betrayed him to seize his lands and castle. Maria leaves Hohenstein Castle and journeys through the lands of the independent Solkony, seeking Michel while also helping to foster peace between their warring factions and the Hussites who advocate for religious freedom. Along her journey, she encounters leaders who aid her quest. Unbeknownst to her, Michel has lost his memory and doesn't recognize Maria.
Das Vermächtnis der Wanderhure (2012) is a historical drama directed by Thomas Nennstiel. Set in 15th-century Europe amidst the Hussite Wars, this made-for-TV movie follows Lady Maria Van Arnstein as she searches for her presumed-dead husband Michel across the war-torn lands of Solkony. While helping to broker peace between religious factions, Maria uncovers a web of political intrigue and betrayal involving her husband's ambitious cousin Hettenhein. The film explores themes of love, loss, and the quest for identity in times of conflict.
