Juliette Binoche, born March 9, 1964 in Paris, France, began acting during adolescence with stage productions. Her breakthrough came in 1985 with André Téchiné's 'Rendez-vous'. She gained international recognition for her role in Philip Kaufman's 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' (1988). Binoche has since acted in numerous films, winning awards such as the Venice Film Festival Award and an Academy Award for 'The English Patient' (1996) and Best Actress at Cannes Film Festival for 'Certified Copy' (2010). She's known as 'La Binoche' in France.
