Christina Ricci, born February 12, 1980, is an American actress known for playing unconventional characters with a dark edge. She started her career at age nine with 'Mermaids' (1990), followed by iconic roles as Wednesday Addams in 'The Addams Family' (1991) and its sequel. Ricci's fame grew with appearances in 'Casper' and 'Now and Then' (both 1995). Transitioning into adult roles at 17, she gained acclaim for films like 'Sleepy Hollow' (1999) and 'Monster' (2003), and has appeared in numerous box office hits. Story
In rural Tennessee, Lazarus, a God-fearing blues musician turned truck farmer, finds Rae, a young woman near death after being beaten and sexually abused by her boyfriend Ronnie's friend. Rae, a victim of childhood sexual abuse from her father and verbal abuse from her mother, has been looking for love in all the wrong places due to her troubled past. Lazarus nurses Rae back to health and provides her with fatherly advice while teaching her about blues music. Meanwhile, Ronnie misunderstands Lazarus' relationship with Rae and vows to kill him, but Lazarus calls his bluff and tries to help Ronnie as well.
