Emmanuelle Grey Rossum, born September 12, 1986 in New York City, is an American actress and director. She began performing professionally as a child with the Metropolitan Opera before transitioning to on-screen roles such as Genius (1999) and Songcatcher (2000). Rossum gained significant recognition for her role as Fiona Gallagher in Shameless (2011–2019), portraying the eldest daughter of an Irish American family dealing with their alcoholic father. She has also acted in films like The Day After Tomorrow (2004) and The Phantom of the Opera (2004), and directed/produced television, including Angelyne (2022).
