Emily Mortimer (born 6 October 1971) is a British actress and filmmaker known for her versatile film roles, including 'Lovely and Amazing' (2003), for which she won an Independent Spirit Award, and notable TV appearances such as Mackenzie McHale in 'The Newsroom' (2012–2014). John Truscott travels to Borneo to work with the Iban people as part of the British colonial government. Upon his arrival, he is given a 'sleeping dictionary,' an local woman named Selima who is meant to help him learn their language and culture.
