Known for her red swimsuit poster, Fawcett earned multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations throughout her career, including nods for her performances in The Burning Bed (1984), Small Sacrifices (1989), Spin City (2001), and The Guardian (2002–2003). She also received praise for her role in the film The Apostle (1997). Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006 and passed away on June 25, 2009 at age 62.
