Courtney Michelle Love, born July 9, 1964 in San Francisco with an itinerant childhood mainly spent in Portland, Oregon, rose to fame as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the alternative rock band Hole, which she formed in 1989. She gained critical acclaim for her uninhibited performances and confrontational lyrics. Love's acting debut was in 'Sid and Nancy' (1986), followed by roles in 'Straight to Hell' (1987) and 'The People vs. Larry Flynt' (1996), for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. Her music career includes three Hole albums, with 'Live Through This' (1994) achieving multi-platinum sales, and two solo albums.
