David Spritz (Nicolas Cage), a once-popular TV weathercaster turned alcoholic and womanizer after his wife left him for another man, is now a struggling local weatherman. Despite his personal turmoil, he has to maintain his forecast accuracy as Chicago faces record-breaking weather conditions. David's estranged son, Mike (Nicholas Hoult), who has been living with his mother and her new husband, returns home unexpectedly.
