She gained international recognition in the late 1990s with films like 'The Devil's Advocate' and 'Mighty Joe Young'. Theron won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Aileen Wuornos in 'Monster' (2003). In Paris during the early 1930s, Gilda Bessé, an heiress to a champagne fortune, shares her apartment with Guy Malyon, an Irish schoolteacher, and Mia, a Spanish refugee and political idealist. Gilda pursues her career as a photographer while leading a hedonistic lifestyle, contrasting with Guy and Mia's growing commitment to fight against fascism. When Spain falls to the Nationalists, Mia leaves for the front lines, straining their trio's bond. As Europe descends into World War II, their lives are forever changed.
