In the year 2000, a lonely and obsessive mathematician named John Gantner becomes obsessed with a young girl named Lolita Haze who lives next door. He begins to record his thoughts and feelings about her in a video diary, detailing his growing desire for her despite knowing it's wrong. When he learns that she is moving away with her mother, he kidnaps Lolita and holds her captive at his remote mountain cabin. There, he continues to document their relationship, hoping to preserve what he believes is true love. Meanwhile, police are on the hunt for the missing girl.
