In 'Ring of the Nibelungs' (2004), a young blacksmith named Siegfried slays the dragon Fafnir to liberate the Burgundians from its tyranny. Unaware that he is the rightful heir to a conquered kingdom, Siegfried expects to receive treasure as his reward but ignores the curse placed upon it by the gold's original owner, the Nibelung king Alberich. The treasure catches the attention of the Norse warrior queen Brunhild, who seeks it for her people. As Siegfried and Brunhild fall in love, the curse begins to endanger their relationship, threatening both their lives.
