Secret Voyeur (2004) is a psychological drama that explores themes of voyeurism, obsession, and the destructive consequences of desire. The film follows Jean Delatour (Vincent Cassel), a French businessman who becomes obsessed with his neighbor, Catherine (Sandrine Kiberlain). Through a hole in her ceiling, Jean spies on Catherine's intimate moments without her knowledge. As his voyeurism intensifies, Jean begins to insert himself into Catherine's life under false pretenses, leading to a disturbing and ultimately tragic outcome.
Directed by Claude Chabrol, Secret Voyeur is an adaptation of the novel 'La Femme d'à côté' by Daphné du Maurier. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004 and was well-received for its tense atmosphere and Cassel's powerful performance. It serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of obsession and the destruction that can arise from invading someone's privacy.
