Dame Helen Mirren, born Helen Lydia Mironoff on July 26, 1945, is an English actor known for her versatile roles and numerous accolades. She portrayed a young IRA woman named Maguire in the film 'Cal' (1984), for which she won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress. In the early 1900s on the remote Turkish island of Pascali, Basil Pascali (Sir Ben Kingsley), a spy for the Sultan who sends unread reports to Istanbul, grows suspicious when a British archaeologist arrives on the island. Pascali believes this stranger may not be who he seems and could potentially threaten the island's tranquility. As Pascali investigates the newcomer, he begins to uncover long-buried secrets about his own past and the true nature of his role as the island's guardian.
