Rachel Griffiths, born Rachel Anne Griffiths AM on December 18, 1968 in Melbourne, Australia, is an accomplished Australian actress known for her roles in films like 'Muriel's Wedding' and 'Hilary and Jackie'. She won critical acclaim for her performances as Brenda Chenowith in the HBO series 'Six Feet Under' and Sarah Walker Laurent on the ABC drama 'Brothers & Sisters'. Griffiths attended Melbourne University, studying philosophy before pursuing acting at Victoria School of the Arts. After college, she began working with Woolly Jumpers Theater Company and Melbourne Theater Company. Ray, an off-the-books manager, hires Gerry, a spirited Australian woman with mountain climbing skills, to join his crew painting power towers in a 15-mile stretch outside Sheffield.
