In 'Fast Company', Lonnie 'Lucky Man' Johnson (William Smith) is a legendary drag racer who drives for Fast Company, a team managed by the corrupt Phil Adamson (Harry Guardino). Lonnie takes promising young driver Billy 'The Kid' Crocker (Cliff Robertson Jr.) under his wing. However, when Adamson secretly makes a deal with Lonnie's rival Gary 'The Blacksmith' Black, he steals their car and leaves them stranded. Furious, Lonnie and Billy reclaim the car and decide to race independently in the next event. This infuriates Adamson who schemes to sabotage their plans at any cost.
