Lara Fabian, born Lara Sophie Katy Crokaert on January 9, 1970 in Etterbeek, Brussels, Belgium, is a Belgian-Canadian pop singer and songwriter who has sold over 20 million records worldwide. Born to a Belgian father and Sicilian mother, she lived her early childhood in Sicily before moving to Quebec, Canada in 1991. Fabian showed musical talent at an early age, attending the Royal Conservatory of Brussels from age eight. She represented Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988 with 'Croire', reaching fourth place and selling nearly half a million copies. In Canada, her debut album 'Lara Fabian' sold over 100,000 copies, going gold and platinum. Her breakthrough album 'Carpe diem' (1994) went triple platinum and earned her two Félix awards in 1995.
