ストーリー
In early 18th century Russia, during Peter the Great's reign, Ivan Starshov, a young serf, falls deeply in love with Maria, his master's daughter. Despite their social difference, Ivan believes he can marry Maria as God created all people equal. When a priest advises him to accept his fate and repeats the proverb 'Different strokes for different folks,' Ivan rebels against this advice and eventually loses his faith. Heartbroken and disillusioned, Ivan decides to leave his village in search of understanding his true destiny.
