Valentina Lodovini, born in Umbertide and raised in Sansepolcro, Italy, trained at the School of Dramatic Arts in Perugia and later at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. After appearing in secondary roles, she gained recognition for her role in 'La giusta distanza' (2007), earning a David di Donatello nomination for Best Actress. In 2011, Lodovini won the David di Donatello for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Maria in 'Benvenuti al Sud'. She reprised this role in the sequel 'Benvenuti al Nord'.
