In 'Vyzhivshie', an ancient virus, unleashed by a series of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, decimates humanity. The virus destroys leukocytes in the bloodstream, causing organs to fail if one sleeps for more than an hour and a half. Among the survivors is Nastya, who slips into a coma after contracting the virus. Months later, her partner believes she can still be saved. Together with other survivors, they fight against raiders and seek refuge in a sleep lab. After Nastya awakes, they face another challenge: those revived exhibit hive-mind behavior, craving glucose en masse. Determined to save Nastya despite the altered reality, her partner embarks on a dangerous journey.
'Vyzhivshie' (2021) is a Russian-German science fiction thriller set in post-apocalyptic Moscow following an ancient virus outbreak triggered by earthquakes. The film explores themes of survival, love, and adaptation amidst catastrophic circumstances. Directed by Evgeniy Emelin, Andrey Proshkin, and Vladlena Savenkova, it presents a unique take on the zombie genre, with altered humans rather than typical undead. The movie's grim depiction of societal collapse serves as a cautionary tale about humanity's vulnerabilities.
