In 'The Green Knight' (2021), directed by David Lowery, we follow Sir Gawain, a reckless and idle knight of King Arthur's court. The film is an adaptation of the 14th-century poem 'Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.' On Christmas, a mysterious green-skinned figure, the Green Knight, arrives at the castle and offers to play a game: any knight can strike him once with his axe if they promise to find him in a year and a day to receive a blow in return. Sir Gawain accepts and decapitates the Green Knight with ease. However, the Green Knight stands back up, picks up his head, and reminds Gawain of his promise before disappearing. A year later, Gawain sets out on a journey to fulfill his vow, traversing a surreal and dangerous medieval landscape filled with strange creatures and magical occurrences. Along the way, he faces trials that challenge his courage, honor, and virtue.
