Frances Louise McDormand, born Cynthia Ann Smith on June 23, 1957, is an American actress known for her versatile roles across film, stage, and television. She began her career on stage before making her screen debut in 'Blood Simple' (1984). Notable films include 'Mississippi Burning' (1988), 'Short Cuts' (1993), 'Fargo' (1996), 'Almost Famous' (2000), and 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' (2017). McDormand has received numerous awards, including two Academy Awards for Best Actress ('Fargo' in 1997 and 'Three Billboards' in 2018). She is married to filmmaker Joel Coen since 1984, with whom she resides in New York City with their adopted son Pedro.

After the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (Frances McDormand) decides to leave her conventional life behind and embarks on a journey across the American West.
