Ten Inch Hero follows Piper, a young woman who moves to Santa Cruz, California to attend art school. Six years earlier, she gave up her daughter for adoption after becoming pregnant at age 15. Upon arriving in Santa Cruz, she discovers an article about a girl she believes could be her daughter and decides to take a job at a local sandwich shop while she investigates the possibility. Working alongside Piper are Tish, a confident and flirtatious employee who sleeps with customers; Jen, a self-conscious computer nerd engaged in an online relationship with a man she's never met; Priestly, an eccentric individual who refuses to conform to societal norms; and Trucker, their boss who is secretly in love with the owner of a nearby store. Throughout her time at the shop, Piper becomes deeply involved in the personal struggles of her coworkers as they navigate love, self-discovery, and acceptance, while she also searches for answers about her own past.
