In a remote village inhabited by just twenty families, Raulo, a middle-aged mentally disabled lumberjack, lives with his elderly, senile mother Ercilia, who practices witchcraft, and his younger sister Roberta, the town's most popular prostitute. The siblings share an unconditional love and care for each other, but their idyllic life is disrupted when Ercilia senses her impending death. She issues a dire warning to Roberta: if she sleeps with every man in town, including Sicilio, the husband of another prostitute who harbors secret feelings for Roberta, Roberta will be ostracized and ultimately meet her demise at the hands of Sicilio's vengeful wife.
