In New York, Dr. Norman Boyle takes up his colleague Dr. Petersen's research on the enigmatic Dr. Freudstein. He moves to an isolated house in Boston with his wife Lucy and their son Bob. Bob befriends a ghostly girl named Mae who warns him about the house. Soon, they hire a mysterious babysitter named Ann, and strange occurrences begin plaguing the family. Eventually, Bobby explores the basement and uncovers the house's dark secret.
