In the sultry summer of 1947, in a small border town in Slovakia, respected builder Mr. Hampl arrives with his young wife Nada. She catches the eye of Daniel, a local teacher still grappling with his experiences from World War II. Initially resisting Daniel's advances, Nada's resolve wavers as the scent of flowering agave permeates the air. When the rare plant finally blooms after three decades, Nada's decision to resist is irrevocably altered.
