Rachel Griffiths, born Rachel Anne Griffiths AM on December 18, 1968 in Melbourne, Australia, is an accomplished Australian actress known for her roles in films like 'Muriel's Wedding' and 'Hilary and Jackie'. She won critical acclaim for her performances as Brenda Chenowith in the HBO series 'Six Feet Under' and Sarah Walker Laurent on the ABC drama 'Brothers & Sisters'. Griffiths attended Melbourne University, studying philosophy before pursuing acting at Victoria School of the Arts. After college, she began working with Woolly Jumpers Theater Company and Melbourne Theater Company. After a catastrophic event, Alex Irving, an Indigenous woman with a charismatic and contradictory persona, finds herself thrust into national prominence in Australia. Seeing an opportunity to exploit this for political gain, the country's embattled Prime Minister Rachel Anderson handpicks Alex to join the Senate. Initially compliant, Alex soon becomes disillusioned by the Prime Minister's cynical maneuvers and decides to seek revenge. This sets off a chain of events that threatens to upend Australia's political establishment.
