In 16th century Italy, Beatrice Cenci, a teenager, is imprisoned in her father Francesco's castle by his order. A tyrannical and depraved nobleman, he sexually abuses Beatrice at will. Trapped and helpless, Beatrice turns to her stepmother, Olimpio (her besotted servant), and local bandit Catalano for help.
